Just Learned- Marfa creeping in Austin's shadow...

After only a brief encounter with a series of pictures and descriptions -my favorite above (original description: The abandoned Prada concept store. Only in Marfa…)- I'm ready to call Marfa the 2nd most intriguing place to visit in Texas. Now that's a very uninformed assertion and perhaps isolating art or counter-culture as a theme. Isolationists are always fun: either protest at the Capitol or live in the desert with art installations. One is much easier than the other, or so it seems with intelligent people. Art is art is art. Hmmmm, yes, hmmmmm. That was important and applicable to people dying in a Nato bombing yesterday in Afghanistan. Okay I'm hating so forget me. There is no right or wrong answer.

I barely mentioned the 1st most intriguing place to visit in Texas- this is an easy one...Mr. Austin. Austin shows you -in certain areas- what small town American could look like if people...if people...smoked more pot? Spoke more slowly? Again, I'm clueless, but Austin's small businesses thrive and intrigue along with their music and film and a lot of their people. It still disgusts in many parts and poverty and desolate suburbs pervade and overshadow a lovely Neiman Marcus coming soon landscape, but they're on to something much more than most. Similar to Marfa. But I'm not going there anyway because it burns too much jet fuel and San Diego has nicer weather.
